Makkah has experienced rapid urban expansion and the emergence of informal settlements, leading to the formation of informal settlement areas. This study aims to address the issue of informal settlements in the city and propose a methodology for their regeneration, focusing on the specific case of the Al-Tayseer area to be a tourist destination. Historically, Makkah followed the patterns of ancient cities and lacked monitoring systems, resulting in a large number of Umrah pilgrims remaining in the city after performing their rituals. The absence of a comprehensive futuristic strategy for dealing with the settlement patterns of society has led to the integration of different segments, facilitated by the absence of significant social differences. However, in the seventeenth century, the central area of Makkah underwent development plans that involved demolishing and eliminating the old neighborhoods. As a result, large segments of the population moved to modern neighborhoods. Unfortunately, planners neglected to address the categories that make up the informal settlements, both in terms of urban and organizational aspects. Consequently, these informal settlement neighborhoods began to form around the central area and continued to grow at high rates. Additionally, individuals from rural and desert areas migrated to Makkah in pursuit of better living standards, further contributing to the growth of these informal settlement areas.
