AbstractThis chapter presents basic concepts related to the mathematical modeling of nanoparticle transport in porous media that will be used throughout this book. The next section of the introduction includes the continuum theory of fluid flow, followed by the flow in porous media. Then, the rock and fluid physical properties are presented. The mathematical modeling of single-phase and two-phase flow in porous media is discussed. Finally, the modeling of nanoparticles in porous media, which is mainly used in this book, with all aspects and MATLAB code for validation against experimental data is stated.
