Abstract
This capstone project presents an 18-20 minute narrative short film titled Your Forever Home. The film
examines denial as both a coping response and an emotional obstacle in young adults facing meaningful
separation. Through the relationship between two childhood friends dealing with unspoken feelings, the
story explores emotional avoidance, attachment, and the fear of change within a culturally grounded
setting.
The project follows a structured process across pre-production, production, and post-production stages.
The written thesis is divided into three chapters. Chapter One focuses on the research framework,
including the research question, literature review, methodology, and references. Chapter Two presents the
creative elements of the film, such as the logline, synopsis, treatment, script, character development,
visual planning, and director’s statement. Chapter Three is a reflection of the practical execution of the
film, detailing the workflow, challenges, and creative decisions throughout the filmmaking process.
Together, the film and research investigate how unspoken emotions shape young adulthood and how
denial can delay, rather than prevent, emotional loss.
