Abstract
This study advances the use of the recently developed Arrhenius–Normal model to evaluate the reliability of adhesive-coated strips under thermal stress conditions using accelerated lifetime data. While the same dataset was previously analyzed by ASTM (2024) using the classical Arrhenius–Weibull model, it is reexamined here to demonstrate that the failure times at each stress level closely follow a normal distribution. The Arrhenius–Normal model provides an excellent fit to the relationship between lifetime and temperature, enabling accurate extrapolation of service life under normal operating conditions. The analysis shows that although both the mean and standard deviation of lifetime decrease with increasing stress, their ratio—the coefficient of variation—remains constant, consistent with observations reported in recent literature.
