Abstract
The study focuses on designing a diving center in Jeddah, a city renowned for its
vibrant marine biodiversity and its strategic location on the Red Sea. Recognizing the
lack of well-equipped diving facilities, this research highlights the necessity for such
a center to cater to both local divers and tourists. The proposed design integrates
sustainability, marine conservation, and community engagement, aiming to enhance
the safety, awareness, and recreational experiences associated with diving activities.
The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys
and qualitative interviews to identify user needs and preferences. Comparative
analyses of global diving centers offer insights into best practices and design
standards. The project aligns with international codes (e.g., IBC, ISO) and Saudi
Building Codes (SBC) to ensure accessibility, functionality, and environmental
compatibility.
The center is envisioned as a multifunctional hub featuring training areas, classrooms,
pools, equipment storage, and relaxation zones. It also includes amenities such as
cafés, administrative offices, and guest accommodations to support diverse user
demographics. The study emphasizes the center’s potential to boost tourism, promote
marine conservation, and provide a safe, engaging environment for divers,
contributing to Jeddah’s cultural and economic prosperity.
