Abstract
dissertation analysis investigates the vulnerabilities, the coping capabilities of the supply
chain in the chemicals and plastics industries, and in particular the Saudi Industries Corporations.
The study involves an extensive meta-analysis of 59 research articles from reputable databases,
which lends itself to an in-depth appreciation of the widespread intricacies owned in this industry.
These articles collectively show how supply chain risk and resilience are changing, emphasizing
how organizational capabilities, strategic management, and technology innovations interact to
help navigate a risk environment that is becoming more complex. Important findings highlight the
tilt of the industry towards external shocks broadly due to the to the uninterrupted complexities
that arise from the globalized supply chains. The research shows that raw material availability,
environmental protection measures, and political climate are the major factors of risk for the
industry. Out of these factors, continuity of operations and strategic planning tend to get affected.
To counterattack these weaknesses, the research identifies proper risk management measures as
critical for success. In general, this research advances the literature on supply chain risk
management in the chemical sector, which is still under-represented in the existing body of
knowledge. It emphasizes the need for operational and supply chain management in practice and
in theory for their importance in changing the dynamics of the global economy.
