Abstract
Children living in orphanages are often exposed to harsh environments, emotional turmoil, stress, trauma, and a lack of consistent caregiving, which all contribute to a negative impact on their psychological and emotional development. While traditional orphanages design regularly prioritize basic functional needs, it typically overlooks the importance of emotional healing and how interior design can have a monumental effect on the child. This capstone project explores the role of interior design as a therapeutic tool in supporting the emotional well-being of young girls living in orphanage environments.
