Abstract
The impact of rapid transformations and globalization on urban development jeopardizes the human dimension of open spaces. As a result, cities have lost their primary and foremost premise role: cities must serve the people who live in them. Thus, there is a need to restore the human dimension of urban open spaces through a balanced and healthful relationship between human being and their cities. From this stance, this paper aims to identify the appropriate principles to restore the human dimension of urban open spaces. To achieve this aim, the authors conduct a cross-comparison analysis that addresses modern urban development movements. Through this comparison, the authors can map out the essential principles contributing to restoring the human dimension of urban open spaces.
