Abstract
Using animated visual representations and storytelling can effectively act as a tool for transferring technical information and understanding the materialization and tectonics of architectural works. These cinematographic explanations can thus help foster creative learning techniques in architecture among different age groups. Therefore, this chapter aims to explore animated films’ role in fostering creative architectural designs by communicating complex architectural concepts. The visual journey detailing the different aspects of architectural design can evolve past rigid communication frameworks toward more inclusive storytelling practices. The animated film “The Pyramid” provides an intriguing case study that can be used to explore the mystery of how the ancient pyramids were built. This topic has fascinated researchers and historians for centuries, and the unique perspective offered by the film can shed new light on the role of using animated cinematographic films in comprehending the construction dynamics of architectural designs and thus nurturing creativity. The chapter will further explore this role by conducting several interviews with academics in the field of animation and cinematography and also academics in the field of architecture. The results will be analyzed to conclude with clear recommendations on how animated films can be used effectively in transmitting architectural and technical insights.
